Italian Campaign July 1943 – May 1945

The course will cover factual data – when and where was the decision made to invade – the invasion of Sicily – the 4 landings on the mainland of southern Italy – the 4 battles of Cassino and the Anzio landing – the advance to and breakthrough of the Gothic Line and the conquest of northern Italy.

We will conclude with the aftermath and postwar Italy and the make up of the Allied armies.If you have information on any member of your local community or family who was involved in the campaign it will make a useful discussion point. Also if anyone has a relevant medal collection please bring it along. I am looking for interest rather than experience.
