Latin for Roman Britain and Beyond
Salvete omnes! Latin is lurking somewhere in your brain, and this is the course to get it going again! We shall look at some documents relating to Roman Britain (eg Caesar’s invasions, Boudicca’s revolt, Hadrian’s Wall) as well as later on (eg Christianity, Norman Conquest, our legal system). We shall visit Chedworth Roman Villa, a lovely example of a 2nd-4th century house & lifestyle. We shall relax with some puzzles & games, and watch some DVDs. Please bring a good Latin dictionary and your sense of participation, as we shall be learning from each other, as well as having some fun. Also please bring any short booklet on life in Roman Britain, and any material to share.
