Creative Writing – non-fiction

Life Writing

So what is Creative Non-Fiction?

This is a fairly recent genre embracing biography, autobiography, memoir, journals, letters and nature and travel writing; lifted and enhanced by the use of literary elements:

  • Story-telling – we are telling a factual story.
  • Character – a non-fiction main character can be used to great effect.
  • Setting and scene.
  • Plot and structure.
  • Figurative language, imagery, dialogue.
  • Point of view – are you fascinated by family folklore? Are you intrigued by the relationship between us and our environment? You could move beyond people – take the point of view of animals, or places – cities, villages, another country or even the Universe.

Using our writers’ craft skills we can create page-turning Creative Non-Fiction. And if your passion is writing pure fiction, our Summer School course incorporates the literary elements to enhance and strengthen your writerly style.
